Alan Pier was born and raised in a small city in northern Iran during the shah’s reign. At age nineteen and for the following two years, Alan was sent to villages to teach children in lieu of serving in the military. He entered the University of Tehran where he studied hydrology while working for water company.
Alan furthered his studies in civil engineering at the university level where received his BSc. and then worked as a project engineer in an engineering consulting services company. At twenty-two, he married. He and his wife had three children, all of whom now live independently in the United States.
In 1979, Iran was invaded by the mullahs’ regime, which claimed the right to plunder the country and kill innocent citizens in the name of religion. Those who could, especially most of the intellectuals, escaped the country. Alan joined them. With his wife, he left behind his position and all he had and immigrated to the United States, seeking freedom and human rights. Soon after arriving in the United States, Alan found a job in Briarwood, Illinois, in a nuclear power plant station. He attended the Lake Washington Technical College in Kirkland, Washington, where he furthered his studies in graphic engineering. Now retired, Alan enjoys sports, hiking, cycling, and yoga.
Alan felt compelled to take advantage of his adopted country’s freedom of press to share with the world what he saw and experienced in Iran. His book, The Right Choice, lets people everywhere know what happened to his country and how the Iranian people became hostages to the mullahs’ regime under the name of God and religion.
The truth will set you free.
